I know Landy I know..

that's the exact kinda thing I was saying on the other thread ( 4 of the best )

it's intolerable :annoyed: .. precision seems to have gone out the window and this is coming from the TOP, mentioning no names.. (see post #11)

you can spot the trend that is that now undermines this once .. glorious forum.

it's hurts me to see this happening

I like modern times very much. I think it's a great piece of music and lots of other people think so.One old friend of mine always used to say that even Bob's not so great work is still better than a lot of other people's stuff. People don't always understand that I don't think.
I just love the man anyway. I don't feel he has to be on top of the world for me to do that.
He's always #one for me anyway....and always will be and don't ask me why......lol

It's a new day With new opportunities. People feel different about different tings. Live and let live I'd say...beyond the clouds there's a silver lining.......

Live and let live is my golden rule. It doesn't bother me at all what other people think.

Sure but he's got his faults too I'm sure, everyone has and, like you say, he cant keep on producing masterpieces all the time, it's an impossibility, when he is on top form no one comes anywhere close, but there have been turkeys too it has to be said. I took him off the pedestal a long time ago and now just try and listen without thinking he's some kind of demi-god or messenger

my least faves are

slow train coming. over-rated by religious nutjobs who seem to think that Bob's faith proves there's a god. I think the dire "you can call me zimmy" lyric is the worst thing Bob's ever written.

Dylan and the dead. I have never made it through one whole song on this woefully dull album.

Under the red sky. It's shit.

STC.... AND Knopler's guitar becomes iritating and samey

Dylan and the Dead has a GREAT sleeve cover. Best of the lot.

Underthe Red Sky is worth having only for GK, HD and CITW.

I think the Dylan and the Dead cover symbolises an oncoming train wreck, namely the listener hearing the album for the first time and feeling crushing disappointment.

Disagree about DATD

QJA is GREAT, KOHD not at all bad. All songs would sound better if you turned up the bass. Nice if you could make out the lyrics to GSS!!

in the Q magazine Dylan special they review Dylan and the dead, here is that review:

The nadir of Dylan's career, from the cover (deadhead psychedelic nonsense) Downwards. The vocals are rotten, but there is frankly no excuse for the dead's complete inability to get their heads round the fact that Dylan's songs require a bit of fluidity and grace. "Boom Crash weegle-deegle" they go. The travelling Wilburys wait in the wings to save him. A joke: what did the grateful dead fan say when he ran out of drugs? "this band is shit"

Best song: there isn't one.
