I hate to say this, but Hard Rain is one of the most boring songs to listen to... repetitive... droning... barely has a melody... just don't like it.
It is the "Hey Jude" of Bob's catalog... (Hey Jude being a Beatles song that is... repetitive... droning... goes on forever... )

I'm not that fond of Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.
A lot of his early studio albums bother my ears with the shrill harmonica sound. But RDW is one that I've heard to death.

Yes I would choose RDW as my unfavouraite Dylan song. It sounds like a load of drunks coming out of a pub on a Saturday night..haha. I also dislike New Pony, Trouble, Neighbourhood Bully, What was it you Wanted and loads of others.

Everybody wants to know why he couldn’t adjust
Adjust to what, a dream that bust?
He was a clean-cut kid
But they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did
They said what’s up is down, they said what isn’t is
They put ideas in his head he thought were his
He was a clean-cut kid
But they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did
He was on the baseball team, he was in the marching band
When he was ten years old he had a watermelon stand
He was a clean-cut kid
But they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did
He went to church on Sunday, he was a Boy Scout
For his friends he would turn his pockets inside out
He was a clean-cut kid
But they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did
They said, “Listen boy, you’re just a pup”
They sent him to a napalm health spa to shape up
They gave him dope to smoke, drinks and pills,
A jeep to drive, blood to spill
They said “Congratulations, you got what it takes”
They sent him back into the rat race without any brakes
He was a clean-cut kid
But they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did
He bought the American dream but it put him in debt
The only game he could play was Russian roulette
He drank Coca-Cola, he was eating Wonder Bread,
Ate Burger Kings, he was well fed
He went to Hollywood to see Peter O’Toole
He stole a Rolls-Royce and drove it in a swimming pool
They took a clean-cut kid
And they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did
He could’ve sold insurance, owned a restaurant or bar
Could’ve been an accountant or a tennis star
He was wearing boxing gloves, took a dive one day
Off the Golden Gate Bridge into China Bay
His mama walks the floor, his daddy weeps and moans
They gotta sleep together in a home they don’t own
They took a clean-cut kid
And they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did
Well, everybody’s asking why he couldn’t adjust
All he ever wanted was somebody to trust
They took his head and turned it inside out
He never did know what it was all about
He had a steady job, he joined the choir
He never did plan to walk the high wire
They took a clean-cut kid
And they made a killer out of him,
That’s what they did

brownsville girl it's terrible, boring, over-long and with Bob's godawful rambling is the icing on the cake!
Edit: maybe it's called Brownsville 'cos it's shit.

in fact your not really a Dylan fan at all,you seem to like specific "types" of song,Whats wrong Knut? are the above not complicated enough for you? I noticed you rarely talk about the "meaning" behind his pre xian thing, whats surprising is your dislike of New Pony and Trouble....RDW "Sounds like drunks" ....thats because their supposed to , and they were, you fool. I'd b4e interested, in plain language with no biblical quotation , just what it is you like about him

Vivre la difference Cupe, I think it's fantastic in it's sweeping word play, very cinematic, it's like one of those old MGM Westerns

Popular I have a problem with that word.
I still feel very young and there's still a lot of things to learn and there's a cataloque of I don't know 700, 800 songs. I wouldn't take one out that song might come in handy later.

Other freaks.
I've never been a fan of "Blowing in the Wind". I love Bob's comment to George Harrison when Harrison said he thought it would be nice if Bob played that song at the Bangladesh concert, and Bob replied something to the effect of "Will you be playing 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand'"?

exactly. I'm not sure how many Dylan songs can be classified as "popular' any more. I run into so many people who don't know he's still alive, who can't name a song he wrote, or who don't know his most famous songs are actually his. Just like Alex Chilton, only hardcore music fans have heard of him and can name the groups he was in. My wife didn't know who he was, in spite of me owning some Big Star, and The Replacements song, Alex Chilton. The minute I sang the first line of The Letter "give me a ticket for an airplane" she picked up singing it. However, until reading his obituary, I didn't know that he didn't write that song.
So I wonder if this becomes a thread in Dylan snobbery, where we bash what we feel are his most popular songs, and feel superior to the dumbed down masses?

I'm feeling superior already.

No-one has said they don't like all his popular songs. I think it's just a fun thing to identify Dylan songs that were/are better known, but we don't think are among his best.
I take "popular" to mean songs that were hits or got a lot of FM play back in the day. Maybe most of today's young folks won't know them but those of us that were listening to the radio during the late 60s and early 70s would know them, even those that don't consider themselves big Dylan fans.

I take "popular" to be defined as something recognised by the general public and bought/covered by persons who would not necessarily buy his product but in sufficient numbers to make it widely known ...so what could they be? well clearly something as widely recorded like Blowing in the wind or as big a hit in its day as Mighty Quinn,I wouldnt , personally , approach these to like or dislike or treat in any other way as different to his most unknown song

Did someone actually dog "blowin in the wind" too?
You people should be drowned. I wouldn't even feed your corpses to pigs.
I can see someone saying rainy day women-- which is just a gag filler obviously.
Furthermore it is WELL-KNOWN tpicco has had a problem with the album the times they are a changing because bob isn't wearing a flannel shirt on the cover of the album.

I don't like the experience of being drunk..it's happened once or twice.
I like Cross the Green Mountain, Things Have Changed and Dreamin' of You a lot.
Not really sure whether I like him or not. I mean, if I could meet him in the pub and have a couple of pints with him, I might come to know him a little better. From some angles, he seems a really good man, if not a great man. From other angle's, he's far from it. Some kind of dualistic nature, if you like.

Dissing Crash on the Levee now, eh? I guess it must be popular if it's on GH v. 2, but I love that song. Have you heard his version on the Masked and Anonymous soundtrack?

Idiot Wind.
In my time of dying. I like that song. It is the only thing we can be sure of that we all must die one day. (and taxes)
It ain't me baby I do not like that song.
