View Full Version : What song is Bob's most beautiful love song?
To you guys of course ........Nettie?
nettie Moore is just breathtaking.....
Cold irons too...
I guess it's impossible to say which one is best?
I think I go for Cold irons bound though as Bob's most beautiful and incredible lovesong thoughout his whole career as a singer/songwriter.
Yep Cold irons gets my vote.

of course it is daaaaaa......
So why ask it like that?
"What's YOUR favourite " or "What IN MY OPINION is Dylans etc etc " sorry to be pedantic but there is a distinction
So why don't make a thread your way then? I am not an academic you see.

thats fairly obvious
I am more interesting in the lovesongs than the perfection of a thread but you are more interested in the perfection and academic form of stuff maybe? Or you just feel good that you are a better academic than what I am so you find joy in rubbing my nose in the fact that yes you are a better academic than I am. Also english is my second language.
It allright though Landy.

a LOVE song / a song about LOVE...this is his best
Love that's pure hopes all things,
Believes all things, won't pull no strings,
Won't sneak up into your room, tall, dark and handsome,
Capture your heart and hold it for ransom.
You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drowned love
You want a watered-down love
Love that's pure, it don't make no claims,
Intercedes for you 'stead of casting you blame,
Will not deceive you or lead you to transgression,
Won't write it up and make you sign a false confession.
You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drowned love
You want a watered-down love
Love that's pure won't lead you astray,
Won't hold you back, won't mess up your day,
Won't pervert you, corrupt you with stupid wishes,
It don't make you envious, it don't make you suspicious.
You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drowned love
You want a watered-down love
Love that's pure ain't no accident,
Always on time, is always content,
An eternal flame, quietly burning,
Never needs to be proud, restlessly yearning.
You don't want a love that's pure
You wanna drowned love
You want a watered-down love
Nice choice Kent and thank you so very much for voting. Thank you. I can't change now and vote for this song ehh? It has to be Cold irons now....lol
I must admit that our Master pinned this one down right on the money. Love that's pure...uhhh and when you have somebody that loves you like that you don't have to constantly say the 3 words cuz you know.........love is like a silent river that keeps on moving slowly.....and if you're traveling on a ship on that river you know you're heading for the harbor.....
and thank you again for posting all the words.

I didn't see the first message.
You want watered down love?
It's not called lerve songs
It is called love songs
and they shouldn't be watered down......and Bob's aren't..........they're solid golden love songs.

Yes Lindy, this comes partly from St Paul, 1 Cor 13, but only in small parts.
Chose it because it's a tremendously profound and challenging song.
Best love song could be Girl on the Red River Shore....maybe Make You Feel My Love..they're all good.

Oh I think it's a bit more than "small parts" it's very reminiscent and to my ears sounds like that Chapter re-phrased and put to song, first thing I thought of when I heard the record and reinforces something Ive pointed out before about his "sponging" the wibble for inspiration. We [ the wife and I ] had this St Paul thing said at our wedding
Anway to get back to wacky woman's question - my answer is "far too many to list"

Some parts come from other places in the NT. This is really a poetry mosaic, based on traditional lit, much as Burns produced

With this kind of love
you don't have to pretend
and you don't play games
you can be who you are
don't have to put up a front
You just know it's there

Yes, I am agree All Bob Dylan songs are Love Songs. Many faces of love in this world, Mr. Dylan is just best at nailing them all. Nailing or paintings whatever is best is what he is knowing.

Sad eyed lady of the lowlands is a beautiful love song, I love the way the music rises and falls, the way Bob sings and the words he's singing. And Love minus zero no limit, the version on Live 75, the way his voice sounds all hoarse and broken adds so much emotion to the song.
