I didn't steal it.. I bought it.. I got the one with a limited edition bonus disc featuring two previously unreleased tracks

"I Was Young When I Left Home" (Traditional, arranged by Bob Dylan) [Recorded December 1961]
"The Times They Are A-Changin'" (Bob Dylan) [Alternate version, recorded October 1963]

I think .. it's a classic .. a brilliant album.. ( I have been known to be v. bias )

I have "I Was Young When I Left Home" on the bootleg 7 (if it's the same song)

I don't know for "The Times They Are A Changin'"

I didn't like this album immediatly but now I like it.

Love and Theft is in the top two Dylan records on my selection. It's too bizarre for words. It's certainly his most challenging record in terms of what you have to come to terms with and how you have to reorientate yourself to any numbers of principles of action.

In other words, it's good.

Well it's subjective I guess, it doesnt appeal to me in any way shape or form, rarely play it nowhere near some of his earlier work imho,it has dense rich lyrics but...so what...that could just be a put on

in fact, now I come to think about it, I wouldnt be at all surprised if he just comes up with sublime lines which have no connection - apart from their metre and rhyme - wilth the next bunch of lines. I know of at least 3 lyrical changes in Mississippi, and he's always been adept at that, switching lyrics, changing them , dropping them introducing others so theres no necessarily a consistency of thought and when you try this there is no rationality between them, for instance what has acknowledging that were all going to die have to with being raised in the country ? it dont make sense but it works, lots of songwriters use this process it's not unusual but he's the master of it

you think something has to be intellectually "challenging" to be any good? sorry, that just about sums you up

Love & Theft is, IMHO, easily the equal of BIABH or HWY61 and BOB... but it is a mature man's album, not an angry and/or confused kid's album... sadly Modern Times was nowhere near as good, but L&T would be a hard album to follow for anyone... L&T has a maturity and range and depth of feeling I find missing on his earlier albums. I love BIABH & HWY61 & BOB, but I love L&T as much

Intuition is the name of the game, logic and analysis get you nowhere. Every good scientist knows that.
