Celebrity Dalek and super intelligent genius Stephen Hawking says that there is no place for God in theories on the creation of the Universe.
In his new book, an extract of which appears in the Times, Britain's most famous physicist sets out to contest Sir Isaac Newton's belief that the universe must have been designed by God as it could not have sprung out of chaos.
Citing the 1992 discovery of a planet orbiting a star other than our Sun, he said: "That makes the coincidences of our planetary conditions - the single Sun, the lucky combination of Earth-Sun distance and solar mass - far less remarkable, and far less compelling as evidence that the Earth was carefully designed just to please us human beings."
He adds: "Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.
"Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist.
"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going."

you know what the Gods Squaddies will say...."ahh but who created Gravity hmm.." the numpties can always use that arguement
yeah who the heck invented it???
Cupid Stunt did not create this thread it was the cosmic vibrations from outer space that did it. ha ha ha

Sir Isaac Newton, he was trying to a invent a pastry for an apple pie that was lighter than air but invented gravity instead, just before he invented the fig newton.

behind every famous man there's a woman needing the doe.
So the conclusion must be that it wasn't God that created the guys on this forum ha ha ha I didn't think so for a long time ha ha ha

why not ? I'm not a theoretical physicist and these are mathemetical equations [ as I understand it] but things do happen spontaneously...what do I know? I'm not bothered because I never believed in creation anyway or God

Hawking believes that because evidence suggests that time has no beginning, the universe has no beginning either. There's some sense in that..if something has always existed, how could it have been created?
But the real question to tackle is who/what is/are God/s? Jesus was a man, and is also God according to Christianity. If God is human, what does that make humanity?

I think Mr. hawkings is saying he can't measure time of the universe AS WE KNOW IT. Our perception is limited to our human capacity. One day, we shall understand

That's not what Hawking said and the obvious answer to your question is that there is no God, never has been, it was just a superstition used to frighten silly olden days people into giving the church money.

Oh I haven't heard of this qute before, it's just common sense if you ask me. We can't even predict which way the wind blows, how can we say what is really beyond our experience?

No you don't tell anyone anything, you say that you got an email from yourself which convinced you that Bob is a prophet but you refuse to add anything to that, how is that sowing a seed? Does that encourage people to find out more about Bob by emailing themselves?

An alter ego (Latin, "the other I") is a second self, a second personality or persona within a person, who is often oblivious to the persona's actions. It was coined in the early nineteenth century when dissociative identity disorder was first described by psychologists.[1] A person with an alter ego is said to lead a double life
Could you pleas explain to me what that has got to do with me. I'm Kent's wife ...I'm getting a bit tired here of permanently telling people that I'm real. I'm starting to think that it's just a game of you here I hope you all have fun, really but what it shows is how derailed you are.

I saw Hawking's programme on time travel last night. Very good. Time is like a river...it moves at different rates throughout the universe because it is affected by gravity fields. time is part of the structure of the universe, so without existence time has no meaning, imo.

Who cares? what a silly question, will it change anything? time has always been there for as long as there was always there

A dice has six possible outcomes. One of the choices is 'create everything'. The other is 'do not create anything'.
